A proteção aos animais tem conquistado um espaço importante nos debates por todo o mundo. Para representar a causa, a arte foi ilustrada com os animais domésticos mais comuns do Brasil: o cão e o gato, ambos sem raça definida (SRD). As palavras de amor, respeito e vida que compõem a criação, pairam sobre a ilustração dos animais significando os sentimentos de acolhimento e proteção dos animais domésticos. Abaixo, a frase “Defesa Animal” expressa toda a emoção inerente à causa. Foram utilizados as técnicas de ilustração em tinta aquarela e computação gráfica.
ABOUT THE STAMP
Animal protection has gained important ground in debates around the world. To represent the cause, the art was illustrated with the most common domestic animals of Brazil: the dog and the cat, both without race defined (SRD). The words of love, respect and life that make up the creation, hover over the illustration of animals signifying the feelings of welcome and protection of domestic animals. Below, the phrase "Animal Defense" expresses all the emotion inherent in the cause. The techniques of illustration were used in watercolor ink and computer graphics.

DEFESA ANIMAL
A defesa dos animais apresenta sua perspectiva de uma nova visão onde cabe ao homem atuar e se responsabilizar por outros seres vivos não-humanos, para dotar os animais de direitos. Tratar dos direitos animais é mais que uma questão ética, é também uma atitude de saúde pública, de economia, de sociologia, entre outras tantas vertentes que saíram deste contexto. A situação de abandono de animais pode resultar em acidentes de trânsito, disseminação de doenças, gastos em controle populacional e deseducação das pessoas em relação à vida. Em recente pesquisa, o IBGE revelou que o brasileiro cria mais cachorros que filhos. As relações entre os animais e seus tutores também mudaram e hoje muitos deles são considerados membros da família. Além disso, há um reconhecimento científico de que os animais são seres sencientes, ou seja, eles são capazes de sentir e manifestar alegria, amor, dor, medo, por exemplo. No Brasil, com a promulgação da Constituição Federal de 1988, passou-se a tutelar a fauna e todas as formas de animais não-humanos, elevando-se a proteção do bem ambiental. Fazem jus à proteção constitucional a fauna doméstica como os cães e gatos em situação de abandonados, gado, frangos de corte, galinhas poedeiras, entre outros, e a sua exploração. Submetê-los a maus-tratos e crueldade, é crime. É de suma importância entender que devemos não apenas evitar o sofrimento dos animais, mas tentar impedir de todas as formas que estes venham a sofrer pelas nossas mãos e penalizar aqueles que desrespeitam esses princípios. A esperança de um futuro melhor para todos os seres é um sentimento que vem ganhando força não apenas nos discursos, como também através de ações. Hoje podemos ver pessoas alimentando animais nas ruas, adotando animais, participando de campanhas de esterilização e investindo recursos próprios para que essa mudança de realidade aconteça. A defesa animal luta para conquistar direitos estabelecidos em leis e para garantir a própria vida animal em si, e tem conquistado adeptos por todo o mundo em um movimento baseado na necessidade de respeito entre as espécies e o meio ambiente. E esta luta está ganhando cada vez mais força e representação. É uma ação pela vida, pela bondade, pela ética e pela justiça. Não há como pensar na formação de verdadeiros cidadãos sem avaliar a maneira como eles interagem entre si, com os outros seres, com o meio ambiente e com o que é público e privado. O caminho é a reeducação da população, trabalho que vem sendo realizado por diversas ONG’s, mas que deverá ser adotada e apoiado pelo Estado, e aplicado em escolas, visando educar os jovens a respeitar todos os seres vivos. Essas ações podem minimizar o sofrimento de milhares de animais que nascem diariamente no Brasil. Com a pressão de uma sociedade mais educada, mais consciente de seus deveres, pode-se esperar uma melhora na questão do entendimento de nossas obrigações com os animais e sua nova caracterização como sujeitos de direito. Com essa emissão, os Correios destacam a defesa animal e sua luta para conquistar direitos estabelecidos em leis e para garantir a própria vida animal em si, em um movimento baseado na necessidade de respeito entre as espécies e o meio ambiente.

ANIMAL DEFENSE
The defense of animals presents their perspective of a new vision where it is up to man to act and take responsibility for other non-human living beings, to endow animals with rights. Addressing animal rights is more than an ethical issue; it is also an attitude of public health, economics, sociology, among many other issues that have emerged from this context. The situation of abandonment of animals can result in traffic accidents, spread of diseases, expenses in population control and miseducation of people in relation to life. In a recent survey, IBGE revealed that Brazilians raise more dogs than children. Relationships between animals and their guardians have also changed and, currently, many of them are considered members of the family. In addition, there is a scientific recognition that animals are sentient beings, that is, they are able to feel and manifest joy, love, pain, fear, for example. In Brazil, with the promulgation of the Federal Constitution of 1988, the fauna and all forms of nonhuman animals were protected, raising the protection of the environmental good. Domestic animals such as abandoned dogs and cats, livestock, broiler chickens, laying hens, and others are eligible for constitutional protection.Subjecting them to maltreatment and cruelty is a crime. It is of the utmost importance to understand that we must not only avoid the suffering of animals, but try to prevent them from suffering in our hands and penalize those who disrespect these principles. The hope for a better future for all beings is a feeling that is gaining strength not only in discourses but also through actions. Today, we can see people feeding animals on the streets, adopting animals, participating in sterilization campaigns and investing their own resources so that this change of reality can happen. Animal defense struggles to conquer rights established by law and to guarantee animal life itself, and has won supporters around the world in a movement based on the need for respect between species and the environment. And this struggle is gaining more and more strength and representation. It is an action for life, goodness, ethics and justice. There is no way to think about the formation of real citizens without assessing how they interact with one another, with other beings, with the environment, and with what is public and private. The path is the re-education of the population, a work that has been carried out by several NGOs, but that should be adopted and supported by the State, and applied in schools, aimed at educating young people to respect all living beings. These actions can minimize the suffering of thousands of animals that are born daily in Brazil. With the pressure of a more educated society, more conscious of its duties, one can expect an improvement in the question of the understanding of our obligations with the animals and their new characterization as subjects of right. With this issuance, the Post-office emphasizes animal defense and its struggle to conquer rights established in laws and to guarantee the animal life itself, in a movement based on the need for respect between species and the environment.
