Sobre o Bloco
O bloco é formado por duas fotografias e outros elementos visuais que remetem às bases da instituição e sua história. À esquerda vemos o prédio 01 do campus Higienópolis, local onde a instituição se consolidou e a partir de onde cresceu para outras cidades e estados brasileiros. À direita, a fotografia dos estudantes data de 1895. Os logotipos usados também apontam para as raízes da instituição. Além do M que caracteriza o orgulho mackenzista de pertencer, ainda há, ao lado, a Sarça, logo da Igreja Presbiteriana do Brasil – associada vitalícia do Mackenzie – e símbolo que representa o chamado divino do casal de missionários Chamberlain, que plantaram, em 1870, a semente que germinou, cresceu e segue frutificando até hoje com sua missão de educar e cuidar do ser humano de forma integral para o exercício pleno da cidadania. O círculo da imagem mostra Deus no centro de toda base do Mackenzie, e fundamento de sua existência, apontando para a tradição. Já o hexágono sinaliza a inovação constante e a busca por conhecimento. As técnicas usadas foram fotografia, arte digital e composição gráfica.
150 Anos do Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie
O Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie (IPM), fundado em 1870, com um curso primário, por missionários americanos presbiterianos convictos dos benefícios da educação na melhoria das condições sociais do povo, foi a primeira instituição no Brasil a promover o acolhimento e não discriminação por raça, juntando, numa mesma sala de aula, crianças de ambos os sexos, filhos de homens livres e escravizados, sendo diversas delas com bolsas de estudo da Instituição. Embora tenha sido criada e ainda se mantenha fiel aos valores e crenças da fé reformada de expressão presbiteriana até hoje, a Instituição jamais foi sectária e sempre acolheu indistintamente a todos.
O Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie, associação civil filantrópica, sem fins lucrativos e econômicos, com finalidade educacional, social, assistencial e de saúde, confessional, surgida na cidade de São Paulo, hoje sesquicentenária e tradicional Instituição de Ensino, vem cumprindo integralmente a finalidade para o qual foi criado, encontrando-se em pleno funcionamento, prestando relevantes serviços em suas atividades de ensino, pesquisa, extensão e saúde, objetiva cumprir sua missão de educar e cuidar do ser humano, criado à imagem de Deus, para o exercício pleno da cidadania, em ambiente de fé cristã reformada.
Paralelemente sempre se destacou por seu sistema de ensino com didáticas hodiernas, reconhecidas até mesmo pelo então Imperador, Dom Pedro II, em visita realizada à então chamada Escola Americana no ano de 1878.
A excelência das inovações educacionais do Mackenzie College, implantadas com sucesso, foi unanimemente reconhecida e em 1890, o governo do São Paulo, pretendendo dinamizar a instrução pública buscou nos modernos moldes pedagógicos e educacionais mackenzistas, as suas novas diretrizes educacionais. A seguir este modelo foi adotado em diversos estados. Pode-se dizer que a Escola Americana foi responsável por uma nova era educacional em nosso país.
A escola inicial se consolidou, o trabalho prosperou, ampliando- -se seus horizontes educacionais. Atualmente somos cerca de 48 mil alunos, dos quais 28 mil com bolsas de estudos parciais ou integrais - sendo 7 mil delas filantrópicas -, compreendendo desde a pré-escola até a pós-graduação em níveis de mestrado e doutorado, presente em 15 Estados da Federação e no Distrito Federal, com educação presencial ou a distância, além de dois hospitais filantrópicos que, em 2019, realizaram mais de 1,6 milhão de atendimentos.
O Mackenzie além da atividade de ensino e extensão está também inserido na vanguarda da pesquisa brasileira, por meio dos seus centros de pesquisa de excelência. Dois dos atuais destaques do Mackenzie são o Laboratório MackGraphe (Centro de Pesquisas em Grafeno, Nanomateriais e Nanotecnologia) e o Centro Mackenzie de Liberdade Econômica, ambos inaugurados em 2016.
No ano de comemorações do sesquicentenário de existência e de serviços prestados à sociedade, completados em 18 de outubro de 2020, o Instituto Presbiteriano Mackenzie sente-se extremamente orgulhoso de sua trajetória e honrado em poder comemorar esta efeméride tendo como ponto alto das festividades a emissão de um selo postal comemorativo. Celebraremos, assim, momentos de gratidão a Deus pelos grandiosos feitos que Ele tem promovido em nossa Instituição.

About the Souvenir Sheet
The souvenir sheet consists of two photographs and other visual elements that refer to the foundations of the institution and its history. On the left, we see building 01 of the Higienópolis campus, where the institution was consolidated and from where it grew to other Brazilian cities and states. On the right, the photograph of the students dates from 1895. The logos used also point to the institution’s roots. In addition to the M that characterizes the Mackenzie pride of belonging, there is also, beside it, the Bush, logo of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil – a lifetime member of the Mackenzie – and a symbol which represents the divine call of the missionary couple Chamberlain, who sowed it in 1870 , the seed that germinated, grew and continues to bear fruit until today with its mission of educating and caring for human beings in an integral way for the full exercise of citizenship. The circle in the image shows God at the center of Mackenzie’s entire base, and foundation of its existence, pointing to tradition. 150 Years of Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute
The Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute (IPM), founded in 1870, with a primary course, by American Presbyterian missionaries convinced of the benefits of education in improving the social conditions of the people, was the first institution in Brazil to promote acceptance and non-discrimination by race, bringing together, in the same classroom, children of both sexes, children of free and enslaved men, several of them with scholarships from the Institution. Although it was created and still remains faithful to the values and beliefs of the Reformed faith of Presbyterian expression until today, the Institution has never been sectarian and has always welcomed everyone without distinction.
The Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute, a non-profit, economic, philanthropic civil association with educational, social, welfare and health, confessional, emerged in the city of São Paulo, today sesqui centennial and traditional Educational Institution, has been fully fulfilling the purpose for the which was created, is fully operational, providing relevant services in its teaching, research, extension and health activities, aims to fulfill its mission of educating and caring for human beings, created in the image of God, for the full exercise of citizenship , in an environment of Reformed Christian faith.
At the same time, it has always stood out for its teaching system with modern didactics, recognized even by the then Emperor, Dom Pedro II, on a visit to the so-called American School in 1878.
The excellence of the educational innovations of Mackenzie College, successfully implemented, was unanimously recognized and in 1890, the government of São Paulo, intending to dynamize public instruction, sought, in modern Mackenzie educational and pedagogical molds, its new educational guidelines. Afterwards, this model was adopted in several states. It can be said that the American School was responsible for a new educational era in our country.
The initial school was consolidated, the work prospered, expanding its educational horizons. We currently have around 48 thousand students, of which 28 thousand with partial or full scholarships - 7 thousand of them philanthropic -, ranging from pre-school to post-graduate studies at master’s and doctoral levels, present in 15 states of the Federation and the Federal District, with face-to-face or distance education, in addition to two philanthropic hospitals which, in 2019, provided more than 1.6 million consultations.
In addition to teaching and extension activities, Mackenzie is also at the forefront of Brazilian research through its excellent research centers. Two of the current highlights of Mackenzie are the MackGraphe Laboratory (Center for Research in Graphene, Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology) and the Mackenzie Center for Economic Freedom, both inaugurated in 2016.
In the year of commemorations of the 150th anniversary of its existence and services rendered to society, completed on October 18, 2020, IPM is extremely proud of its trajectory and honored to be able to commemorate this anniversary with the emission as the highlight of the festivities. of a commemorative postage stamp. We will thus celebrate moments of gratitude to God for the great deeds He has promoted in our Institution.
